About
Making macroeconomics something you can touch
Most people learn macroeconomics from static graphs in a textbook: a curve shifts, an arrow points, and you take the author’s word for what happens next. The Macro Market lets students pull the levers themselves — raise interest rates, cut taxes, spike oil prices, start a pandemic — and watch the whole economy respond.
The site is free for students, teachers and anyone curious. It has four parts:
- The Economy Simulator — a live model of GDP, jobs, inflation, interest rates, housing, stocks and the federal budget.
- History Replay — 150 years of real U.S. data, month by month, with “what-if” scenarios.
- Predict & Play — scenario quizzes that test economic intuition.
- Labs — supply and demand, housing affordability and money creation.
We aim to be accurate, balanced and transparent. Our sources and methodology page explains every data series and every equation. Spotted an error or have an idea? Tell us.
